June 8, 2020
After consultation with the Interior Health Authority, the Water Quality Advisory issued on June 1, 2020 due to elevated turbidity levels (cloudiness) is rescinded. Ongoing testing indicates that the current water quality in the Nelson drinking water supply is now GOOD. The elevated turbidity in our source water, resulting from spring freshet has decreased to a level where water quality is no longer degraded.
The City continues to monitor water quality at our source and throughout our system however, a significant amount of high mountain snowpack remains to melt. Should water quality change, we will post any future notices on the City’s website, through social and print media, radio, and via telephone to users deemed to be at unique risk.
