The Airport Lift Station, located on Lakeside Drive immediately East of McDonald Drive, accepts all of Nelson’s sanitary sewer. It is then pumped via forcemain to the Grohman Narrows Sewage Treatment Plant. A City Contractor, Marwest Industries Ltd., is preparing to start construction near this lift station. The works include replacement of all of the large diameter incoming sewer lines adjacent to the lift station and construction of a large grit chamber. This grit chamber is designed to intercept the grit before it gets into the lift stations pumps and forcemain.  

The work is scheduled to coincide with periods of low ground water in late March and through April. Completion is scheduled for mid May.  

Water or sewer service disruptions are very unlikely. However, access along Lakeside Drive will be limited at times to alternating one lane traffic.
