It doesn't take long to assemble a first-aid kit for your home and car for use in the event of an emergency. A typical first-aid kit might include:
- 2-and 3-inch sterile rolled bandages (3 of each size)
- 2-and 4-inch sterile gauze pads (4 to 6 of each size)
- Activated charcoal (if advised by Poison Control Centre)
- Antiseptic
- Aspirin or non-aspirin pain reliever
- Cleaning agent/soap
- Hypoallergenic adhesive tape
- Latex gloves (2 pairs minimum)
- Needle
- Petroleum jelly
- Pre-moistened towelettes
- Safety pins, assorted
- Scissors
- Sterile adhesive bandages in assorted sizes
- Sunscreen
- Syrup of ipecac (to induce vomiting if advised by Poison Control Centre)
- Thermometer
- Tongue blades (2)
- Triangular cloth bandages (3)
- Tweezers
