[ARCHIVED] Update: Watermain Extension for Selous Creek

IMG_0585

The final tie-in of the Selous watermain extension was completed on October 29 at the top of Stanley Street, and only finishing touches remain to be done, including hydroseeding scheduled for Monday, Nov 2nd. The focus, from now through mid-December is to complete the valve control structure at the Mountain Station reservoir site. Hil-Tech Contracting is working within the fence line at Mountain Station reservoir, currently prepping the site of the valve control structure to accommodate a crane. Next Wednesday a 75-ton crane is scheduled on-site to place and erect building panels and equipment. Mountain Road, next Wednesday through Friday, will be busy as trucks are scheduled to deliver the heavy loads to the crane.

Hil-tech does not anticipate the need for any detours or closures of trails nor roads over the next week, but caution that heavy trucks will use Mountain Road. Please be mindful of the construction zones, traffic control personnel and all construction signage.

The photo below shows the tie-in point near the top of Stanley Street. The blue pipe is the newly laid pipe terminating at a red coloured horizontally controlled gate valve. The steel pipe in the background is the existing Selous Creek line that runs to the top of Stanley Street. The Kays Contracting crew is working to install and align large diameter fittings so as to make a connection to the steel pipe.
