Installation of the watermain along the Great Northern Trail and along the Hoover Street Right-of-Way is nearing completion. Next week the Kays Contracting crews will install test points at either end of the line and commence to fill the line with water to facilitate testing of the new line.
Once the line passes the testing procedures, Kays will commence tying the new line into the existing lines at either end of their project. Little excavation work is planned for next week; however, near to the end of the month, excavation will proceed at the tie-in points at the top of Stanley Street and at the Mountain Station treatment facility.
The Hil-Tech Contracting crews and their subcontractors are currently onsite, inside the fenced perimeter of the treatment facility, forming and placing concrete in advance of erecting a valve control building. Next week, additional concrete works are planned.
Neither contractor plan to work during the long weekend. The contractors do not foresee the need for any detours or closures of trails nor roads over the next week. However, the area around the Mountain Station reservoir will be busy. Please be mindful of the construction zones, traffic control personnel and all construction signage.
