A portion of the Great Northern Rail Trail will be closed September 8 - 18, 2020.
Work is nearing completion for near the Hoover Street Right-Of-Way (ROW) adjacent to the Great Northern Trail and the contractor is poised to cross the trail on Tuesday, September 8th.
As of September 8th, a portion of the Great Northern Rail Trail approximately 200m north of the Mountain Station Parking Lot WILL BE CLOSED. Sandwich board notices of the trail closure have been posted on either side of the construction zone and notices pinned to the kiosks at Mountain Station and at Svoboda Roads.
Although the work crossing the trail will only take a day or two, other work will continue on the steep slope above the trail, and for safety reasons, the trail will remain closed while the crews work their way up the steep pitch. The steep rocky portion of the Hoover Street Right-of-Way is anticipated to take two weeks to complete, so the trail closure will extend through to September 18.
Please be mindful of the construction zones, traffic control personnel and all construction signage.
