The works to install water main from the top of Stanley Street to the Mountain Station Reservoir are moving along as per schedule. Kays Contracting, the prime contractor for the works, is busy at the reservoir site, re-routing and installing new water pipe and expects to be finished this work by the end of next week. The Great Northern Trail, in both directions of the Mountain Station parking lot, remains open as construction crews work at the reservoir. Impact to the public over the next week should be minimal, as the majority of works are located in the City right-of-way (ROW) at the top of Hoover Street, behind fencing.
Early next week, the contractor intends to mobilize to the Hoover Street ROW, below the reservoir, in preparation for connecting waterline between the recently completed sections on the Great Northern Trail with the recent work at the reservoir. The contractor will work with the few affected residents along this ROW in order to facilitate access. Some work, including shouldering and surface repairs, along the Great Northern Trail, south of the Mountain Station Parking lot is also expected for late next week, but full trail closures are not anticipated. For the upcoming week, detours or closures of the roads or trails are not planned; however the road and parking areas adjacent the reservoir will be occupied with materials and equipment and the area remains a very busy work site. Please be mindful of the construction zones, traffic control personnel and all construction signage.

The station and the associated piping is situated on the old rail grade, with the Great Northern Trail visible on the right side of the photo.
