[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Watermain Extension for Selous Creek

july 2

Kays Road Contracting Ltd. has completed the installation of the portion of waterline that is to the south of the Mountain Station Parking Lot and has tentatively reopened this portion of the trail to the public. The final surfacing and some minor clean-up of this section may result in short-duration closures while equipment is working. The final surfacing is expected to be placed in early August.

Kays is continuing to install the waterline from the northern extent of the project (BNR Trail at the Hoover Street right of way) and is working in a southern direction towards the parking lot. This section of the trail remains closed to the public and is expected to fully reopen next week. Progress was slowed on this section due to the encountering of bedrock earlier in the week.

Kays will be taking this Friday – Sunday off and will leave the trail open for public access over the weekend.

The work planned for the week of July 13 – 17 includes work up the Hoover Street right-of-way. Due to the steep slope in the Hoover Street right of way, the BNR trail immediately below the right of way will be closed during working hours (7 am - 5 pm). This closure is required due to the potential safety risk of rocks rolling down the slope and across the trail. Although the trail will be closed during working hours, it will be reopened each evening.

Below is a photo of the water main progresses from the northern extent of the project (BNR Trail at the Hoover Street right of way) towards the Mountain Station Parking lot.
