2019 CITY PAVING PROJECTS ARE UNDERWAY
The City of Nelson is improving the overall pavement quality in our community over the next few years.
Historically, the rate of paving has not met the 30-year asphalt lifecycle. The City is resurfacing the roads to meet the asphalt lifecycle. Due to this extra work, the paving budget has now doubled from 2015 levels.
Work has begun and will continue into late September.
Residents will notice several paving projects throughout Nelson. It is anticipated that each project will take between two to four days to complete.
This multi-day project involves the removal of the existing road surface, some localized base repair, followed by the application of new asphalt.
Prior notice to the public will be delivered via sandwich boards in impacted neighbourhoods and advertisements on local radio stations.
While crews are working, residents can expect periodic road closures. On-street parking will be prohibited in the impacted areas. Please park your vehicles away from the construction site. Parked cars in the impacted areas will be towed.
Residents can assist crews by obeying all signage and direction provided by flaggers. We encourage residents to use alternate routes where possible.
For more information please call Public Works at 352-8238.
Thank you for your patience as crews work throughout the City.
