Development Application
Please complete a Development Application [PDF - 61 KB] and submit to the Department of Development Services & Sustainability if you are seeking approval for any of the following:
- Development Permit (Major - greater than 50 square metres)
- Development Permit (Minor - less than 50 square metres)
- Development Permit (Downtown-Façade & Signage)
- Development Variance Permit
- Official Community Plan Bylaw Amendment
- Land Use Regulation Bylaw (Zoning) Amendment
- Temporary Commercial or Industrial Use Permit
- Road Closure
- Subdivision
- Board of Variance
- Liquor License
Applications can be hand delivered, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the first floor of City Hall. Electronic copies may be submitted in PDF format to development@nelson.ca.
The Site Profile Form is a provincial requirement. The Site Profile Form can be downloaded from the Ministry of Environment's webpage: http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/epd/remediation/site_profiles/index.htm.
Applicants must contact Nelson Hydro for confirmation on electrical servicing requirements.
Applicants are also strongly encouraged to complete a Sustainability_Checklist - 2011.pdf [PDF - 454 KB] when applying for Amendments to the Land Use Regulation Bylaw, Amendments to the OCP, Major or Minor Development Permit, Development Variance Permit or Preliminary Layout Approval of Subdivision.
