Welcome to Nelson! We are a city of 10,000 people nestled among the Selkirk Mountains on the shores of majestic Kootenay Lake in south-east British Columbia, Canada.

Nelson and area is one of B.C.'s richest resource regions and our tradition stretches back over 100 years. More recently, our excellent climate, location and work force have helped to create a robust and diversified local economy, from education, health services and manufacturing, to business and technology services.
Visitors to Nelson and area can enjoy unparallel beauty in a superb natural setting. Outdoor activities include bathing in local Hot Springs, fishing on the areas many lakes and rivers, water sports, skiing, camping, hiking and golfing in beautiful surroundings, accommodating all skill and fitness levels. Back in the city, you can visit our many parks and historic downtown core, dine at one of our many great restaurants, attend a concert or take in an art show.
