Community Heritage Commission (CHC)
This Commission was established by Bylaw No. 2684 in 1995 and is empowered to:
- Recommend to Council the designation of heritage buildings, structures and lands and the demolition, preservation, alteration or renovation of such buildings, structures or lands;
- Advise Council on matter relating to heritage buildings , structures and lands as may be referred to the Commission from time to time by the Council
- Make recommendations to Council on the implementation of policies and practices or activities desirable for furthering the preservation of Nelson's heritage buildings, structures and lands and other matters of Heritage value to the community.
- Make recommendation to Council on the implementation of Nelson's Heritage Strategy and the Heritage Management Plan.
- Make recommendations to Council on matters dealing with the use of heritage matters as an economic tool.
