Transit
The Nelson Transit system has been in operation for over 100 years and takes great pride in serving Nelson's transportation needs. Nelson has a full bus service, the handyDART (special needs transportation services) and the historic Streetcar #23 tramway that runs along the shore of Kootenay Lake.
For more information about the history of Streetcar #23, season passes and charters, please visit the Nelson Electric Tramway Society website.
To view up-to-date transit schedules and route and fare information for bus and handyDART services, visit the BC Transit website.
Bike racks are mounted on the front of all transit buses in Nelson. The racks hold two bicycles at a time, and have instructions for use clearly posted. There is no extra cost to use the bike racks.
They fit most wheel and frame sizes; for tires that are too wide to fit the racks, riders can let some air out for a better fit. Bikes can be individually loaded and unloaded without disturbing the other bikes on the racks.
