Nelson Hydro is upgrading the Mill Street substation at 1211 Mill St. by replacing all existing infrastructure in two phases. The project will improve system reliability by replacing equipment that has reached the end of its serviceable life, and increase system capacity to meet Nelson Hydro customers’ growing demand for electrical power. The project will begin in September 2023 and is expected to be completed by August 2024. The new substation equipment will be installed within the current substation footprint.
Martech Electrical Systems Ltd. is the general contractor for the project. Inquiries regarding the Mill St. Substation Upgrade project may be directed to Nelson Hydro’s Project and Customer Service Manager at 250-352-8287.
