Nelson Fire Rescue greatly appreciates the efforts of residents helping to clear the snow from fire hydrants throughout Nelson during this sustained heavy snowfall. Thank you! You are making a difference!!
We ask community members to continue to assist with clearing the hydrants as the snow continues to fall. We cannot stress enough the importance of having a hydrant cleared in your neighbourhood.
Please know that our Public Works crews and Fire crews are working to dig out fire hydrants as well; however, with over 300+ fore hydrants in the City and continuing snow accumulation, it is impossible to reach them all.
*As a reminder to contractors and those removing snow from their properties, PLEASE DO NOT COVER THE HYDRANTS.*
If you are unsure of where your hydrant is located, we recommend checking the google map for your block or you can check out this map:
Again, thank you to all of those who have cleared out the snow around their local fire hydrant – you are helping to make our community safer.
