UPDATE ON SITKUM WILDFIRE
An update from the South East Fire Center: The Sitkum Wildfire at 7 mile is now under control and it is “sufficiently suppressed”. It is suspected to have been human caused– however this is unconfirmed. The 0.2 hectare fire remains that size and has not grown. There are currently four (4) BC Wildfire Service personnel on site.
NEW WILDFIRE AT SITKUM NORTH SHORE (7 Mile)
July 24, 2018 – 11:00am
BC Wildfire Service has confirmed the ignition of a small wildfire at 7 Mile (Sitkum area). The fire is about 0.2 Ha in size and they have an initial attack crew on scene and should the need arise, there are helicopters and air tankers on standby to assist in the suppression of this fire. The fire danger rating is HIGH with continued hot and dry weather for the foreseeable future, so please be careful with all ignition sources.
